Ying Muncy was born in Beijing, China where her love for drawing and painting eventually led her to attaining a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture. After immigrating to America, Ying’s full time artistic passions were realized and inspired from her culture and world travels. All of the ceramic sculptures are one of a kind...there are no molds involved. One project, called Feline Fantasies, captures the joy within Ying’s spirit. And there’s another exceptional new ceramic series which Ying calls Big -Footed Baby Buddhas which also elicits happy exclamations from people visiting our gallery! According to Jim Ratliff, “When we hear laughter, we know that people are either enjoying the cats or the Buddhas!”
Now, having started working in bronze as well as ceramics, Ying brings beauty and joy through bronze to some of the cats, and has created some realistically beautiful sculptures of adults with children “in motion”. Her artistic talents know no bounds and are a most welcomed addition to James Ratliff Gallery.
